Your choices are numerous because teeth whitening have become big business. Here are some of the top choices in teeth whitening options.
Professional in-office bleaching is done by your dentist in an approximately hour long procedure. Results are visible immediately but the procedure can come expensive.
Professional bleaching tray system is available online and only costs about half of what the in-office system does. There are two types of bleaching tray system - Professional & Boil-and-bite. The two methods make use of moldable bleaching trays that are custom made for your teeth specifications.
Professional tray bleaching system: you have to make an impression of your teeth using the kit that is supplied. You will have instructions and it is not very difficult to use. The impressions are then sent to a professional lab where the actual bleaching tray is made to fit your teeth and then sent back to you.
Boil-and-Bite tray bleaching systems is an at-home system that works reasonably well. However you have to do the procedure so you have to decide whether you need the hassle. You have to make the bleaching tray at home using the kit and instructions provided.
Whitening strips are available over the counter and do a reasonably good job. The drawback here is it is slow acting and needs to be used over a prolonged period of time.
Whitening sprays have not been found to be overly effective. The concentration of oxidizing agent is very low in these products and no amount of spraying will give you dazzling white teeth.
Brush-on Gels are not much better than the whitening sprays. Again the reason could be the low concentrate of oxidizing agent that does not really whiten teeth.
Whitening toothpaste is one of the easiest methods of teeth whitening. It can be bought over the counter and is very easy to use. It is effective provided you continue to use the produce over a reasonably long period of time. In its favor it is not very expensive also. However it is not as effective as the bleaching method.
The first step is to visit your dentist. Let him do a dental checkup for you and determine the condition of your teeth, the amount of oxidizing agent that will be required to remove staining and discoloration, and plaque build up. First, you should have your teeth cleaned. Sometimes additional bleaching may not be required once the surface stains have been removed.
