Everybody loves the kitchen. It's where our food items are stored and where we prepare our meals for the day. Unfortunately, it can get worn down through frequent use, moisture buildup, and other issues. If your kitchen is due for a renovation, then consider adding LED lights to give it a more modern look and feel. The right kind of lighting could also make the kitchen easier to work in and save a lot of money through efficient energy use. LED lights, in particular, use up very little energy yet provide the same illumination that traditional bulbs can. They can also come in very stylish designs and utilized in creative applications. Here are some ideas on how you can use them in the kitchen:

1. Recessed Ceiling Lights

Use LED lighting in the recessed ceiling lights to provide primary illumination for the whole room. LEDs had a reputation of being weak but that is no longer true as new varieties are powerful enough to brighten up even large kitchen spaces. They also last for many years so you will not have to keep going up a precarious ladder just to change faulty bulbs.

2. Kitchen Counter Lights

There are LEDs that are small enough to be placed in an unobtrusive manner beneath the high shelves and cabinets to illuminate the kitchen counter. This would allow you to work on food preparation much better. For translucent kitchen counters, the LEDs can be placed underneath for a dramatic effect.

3. Interior Cabinet Lights

Cabinets and drawers tend to be dark so it's difficult to search for things inside them. A bulb certainly won't fit most drawers but LEDs can. They are small enough to be placed virtually anywhere that needs a bump in illumination and may even be powered by batteries.

4. Backsplash Lights

The sink is typically seen in an unfavorable light. That's a shame as it serves many purposes and the kitchen would be a mess without it. Why not jazz things up by installing a glass backsplash with some light accents behind it? The backsplash could be plain or painted with a design to add character.

5. Décor Lights

If the kitchen has some décor like paintings, photographs, rare china, or framed silverware, then these can be accentuated by LEDs. Judicious use of LED accessories will make the light focus on the right direction at the proper distance and brightness.
