We also can’t deny the truth that when parents and families are involved in their children's schools, the children do better and have better feelings about going to school. In fact it has been proved by many studies that what the family does is more important to a child’s school success than how much money the family makes. There are many alternatives which a parent can apply in helping the children learning at home and the entire school year. Here are some best and friendly ideas discussed below with which you can make a good start.
Meet your child's teacher-When the session start try to meet your child’s teacher. Let your child’s teacher know that you are focused about your child studies. Specify it before that you want the teacher to contact you if any problem occurs with the child. Frequent communication with the teacher will help you know about your child performance. Don’t hesitate if you are not comfortable in speaking English. Never let the language create barrier because what you to convey is more important than in what language you speak. You may ask someone who can interpret for you.
Get to know who else is there at your child's school- There are many people at your child's school who are there to help your child learn, grow socially, emotionally and navigate the school environment. The known person in the school will describes the responsibilities of teachers, administrators and district staff.
Attend parent-teacher meeting and keep in touch with your child's teacher- Schools usually conduct one or two parent-teacher conferences each year. You can bring a friend to interpret for you or ask the school to provide an interpreter. You can also meet with your child's teacher any time during the year. For some reason if you are unable to meet them, send the teacher a short note or fix a time to talk on the phone.
Enquire about your child performance- You can ask the teacher of your child about the performance in the class and how well he is doing as compared to other students. It's important to act early before your child gets too weak in studies.
Make sure that your child do the homework. Let your child know about attention towards the study, what you think about education and how important it is. You should also tell the child that homework needs to be done regularly. You can help your child with homework by managing some special time for them, setting appropriate time for homework and eradicate distractions such as the television and social phone calls during homework time. By following this simple tips your child participation and interest towards school will increase.
