You can reach the place by car, bus or train as it is only at a distance of 30 minutes drive from Alicante and Murcia airports. Orihuela has number of good sandy beaches within an area of sixteen kilometer and the good thing about the place is its moderate weather which remains good through out the year. Landscape in Orihuela is different and covered by river Segura. If you happen to visit the country side of the town you will find variety of cotton fields, olives, almond orchards and oranges. There is a famous palm tree park as well which is known as El Palmeral with hundreds of palm trees. The irrigation system in Orihuela is similar to Elche as this area was once ruled by Muslims and this agriculture and irrigation system was developed at that time. This system is still maintained in Orihuela. Orihuela is surrounded by number of hills like Hurchillo and you can climb up the hill to see the magnificent views of the landscape and neighborhood. This town is well maintained by the authorities and you will find harmony of coastal region with nature all around. The place has all kinds of water sport activities and many golf clubs to entertain the visitors. Orihuela has the rich history of traditional heritage after Valencia in Spain as this place was also ruled by many nations from various cultural heritage and all those monuments are still preserved in Orihuela. One of such monuments is Cathedral which was constructed almost one thousand years before at the residual of the Muslim Mosque. This Cathedral had its original design in Gothic Style with gloomy interior. Santo Domingo Old Monastery is another religious place to visit in Orihuela. The other interesting places to visit in Orihuela are Sagrada Familia, St. Justa Church and Episcopal Palace. There are number of palaces as well in Orihuela which are famous for there ornaments and beautiful designs like Palace of Marques de Rafal, Palace of Count de Pinohermoso, Palace of Count de la Luna. All these places are richly decorated with the ornaments and the balconies and gardens are also very impressive and worth watching.
