I did my schooling form Kendriya Vidyalaya and still feel proud as I was a part of it. Though, everybody will find their school to be the best but my reason is a slight different. Unlike, other schools, Kendriya Vidyalaya have the longest chain in the country. The chain of schools is also called as Central School. It is a record that, till date it is the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya only who have topped the most in the CBSE board in their higher secondary exams.
The central government took the initiative to open the school under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (India). The chain of schools came into existence in 1965 with the name "Central Schools", and has been affiliated with CBSE since then. Later, its name had been changed to Kendriya Vidyalaya. Its original purpose was to provide education to the children of the Indian defense services personnel who are posted to remote places. After Army started its own Army Public Schools, the service had been extended for all central government employees.
The same curriculum followed by these schools throughout India makes sure that the children of the government employees do not face educational troubles if their parents are transferred to any part of the country by providing a common syllabus and system of education for them. The functioning of the schools is overseen by a body known as the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan or Central School Organization. Its headquarter is situated in New Delhi. The chain of Kendriya Vidyalaya has 1085 schools at present out of which four schools are located abroad and rest of the schools are located or spreaded all over the country. A total of 49,286 employees are on rolls and these are divided amongst twenty-one regions. Each of the regions is headed by an Assistant Commissioner.
The four Kendriya Vidyalaya that are located outside India are in Kathmandu, Tehran, Kuwait and Moscow. These schools have been set up in those countries with an aim at providing education to the children of Government employees who are transferred there. The best part is Kendriya Vidyalaya not only covers the urban places but the remote places also. I still get excited when I recall my school days. It feels great when you are a part of any organization that is famous in the country or can be called in the world, and when you studied in such a school, then the feeling is obviously different.
