Every Indian two wheeler manufacturer keeps at least one product for the fair sex, because they promise a huge scope in the growing urban working women population. Gear-less scooters are the need of the hour for every office going woman and also the house wife who needs to regularly pick up and drop her kids to school. No wonder, India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero Honda brought its Pleasure for Indian women with the one liner “Why should boys have all the fun?”

Every Indian two wheeler manufacturer keeps at least one product for the fair sex, because they promise a huge scope in the growing urban working women population. Gear-less scooters are the need of the hour for every office going woman and also the house wife who needs to regularly pick up and drop her kids to school. No wonder, India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero Honda brought its Pleasure for Indian women with the one liner “Why should boys have all the fun?” by roping in teen girls, who are the most probable buyers for this segment.
An astounding aspect of Pleasure is its mid size between the broad Honda Activa and the slimmer TVS Scooty Pep +. The headlamp is not as wide as the Honda Activa or not neatly shaped like the Aviator, but it is a very normal looking design. The body colored mirrors are attractive for girl folks with dual tone treatment on sides of the scooter. There is no special treatment for the front face except stickers with “Pleasure” on it and the orange winkers are esthetically nestled in the front. The instrument panel captures your attention with its round white arches indicating speedometer and a fuel gauge at the top right corner. Interestingly the web like theme at the background gives a little fun. The buttons aren’t colorful like the TVS Pep +, whereas they definitely serve the purpose. The legroom at the front is average and the glove box is less usable as the shape is occupied mostly by the front suspension and the handle assembly. A pair of rhombus reflectors at the sides of the front frame are a special in pleasure.
The broad seats are plushy and slightly inclined to the front. The plastic below the seats has a hook to hold bags in the leg room. It also extend as triangle grey matters decorating over the sides of the scooter and reducing the paint skin. The space under the seat is bulgy at the center and can swallow a half face helmet and a few more items. The body colored grab rail is neatly poisted to the tail end. Pleasures’ rear large trapezoidal warning lamp has silvery indicators covering the edges, providing better visibility. The half naked scooter skirts is covered by a broad plastic mudguard with a rectangle reflector at the bottom. The exhaust shield at the right and a pillion foot rest at the left serve their purpose well. The overall design is plain with little cosmetic touch up that girls may welcome. Dream orange, Candy Blazing Red, Sports Red, Aqua Green, Monotone Black, Dual Tone Black, Ebony Grey, Light Purple, Force Silver all are eye catchy and shall surely grab the attention of women.
The 102cc air cooled, 4 stroke single cylinder OHC engine churns out a maximum power of 7bhp@7000 rpm and pulls at a maximum torque of 7.85 Nm@5000 rpm. The Pleasures’ engine, as I felt is more refined than the Activa’s hasty beat. With the performance coming up only when throttle is wide open, racing is not a girl’s cup of tea. Hence, this engine perfectly matches the scooter giving an average of 40 – 45 kmpl.
The riding position is as firm as the Activa, to be putting more precisely, the leg room isn’t adequate unless you push yourself to the middle of the scooter seat. Part of the inadequate foot floor is due the bulgy steering axle and also the front suspension coming into it. Pleasure uniformly takes you from A to B if you twist the throttle uniformly. In fact, the push from the scooter is uniform and optimal to judge and drive, very much needed for the girls, as they tend to twist more than necessary due to lack of experience. Pleasure’s 104 kg is balanced better and hence doesn’t give a heavy feel on the handlebars. Pleasure is generally well sorted when it comes to cornering and one can confidently direct it. Braking is good but not impressive like its Honda rivals.
The overall built quality needs a praise for the smoothly finished buttons, hooks and the grab rails. Grab rails do stick out more than necessary, which might have been made simple. Also, the petrol lid could have been brought at the tail avoiding to get down every time for refueling the 5 liter tank. Pleasure soaks up most bumps well, , thanks to the twin hydraulic dampers and hides what is happening between the bad road and the tuffup tube tyres. Yes, Hero Honda has also joined Honda in providing puncture resistant technology that takes a while to flatten the tyres when puncture happens. The gel layer on the tuffup shall immediately close the hole once piercing happens, thus delaying the air loss. Pleasure can glide comfortably with two average built Indian but may not pick up as fast an Activa. The firm seats resist your driving limits to not more than an hour in a single sitting.
Goodies first. The overall slender look is a big turn on to the girls, as they might feel Activa is bulkier. The attractive graphics and the Hero Honda’s trademark suspension and built quality is a plus. On the flip side, Pleasure is not among the quickest scooters and takes a leisurely one or two seconds to respond your twist. Pleasure is a premium scooter and is still facing stiff competition from the Honda rivals. Available in 9 eye catchy colors, with its soft revving engine and popularity, its a girl thing.
