Hand-foot-and-mouth disease is a mild but highly contagious viral infection common in young children, which spreads from person to person because of unwashed hands or contaminated surfaces. The Ayurvedic treatment of hand-foot-and-mouth disease is aimed at treating the symptoms and preventing complications like viral meningitis and encephalitis. Medicines like Tapyadi-Loh, Ekang-Veer-Ras, Maha-Vat-Vidhwans-Ras and Bruhat-Vat-Chintamani can be used to prevent and treat meningitis and encephalitis.
Coxsackie virus (or coxsackievirus) is commonly known as the Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD). This is because it causes a blister-like rash that affects the hands, feet and mouth of the patients. HFMD is contagious and can spread from person to person. Infection is spread by direct contact with nose and throat discharges or droplets, or by contamination of the feces of the infected patients. Hand-foot-mouth disease affects many children under 10 years of age, as will as young adults. It will usually develop during the summer and fall months. A sore throat or mouth, a fever, and loss of appetite are early symptoms of the disease. Within two days, blisters form in the mouth and on the tongue.
There is no known treatment for hand-foot-mouth disease other than to give an acetaminophen to reduce the fever and mouth pain while making sure the person drinks plenty of fluids. Enteroviruses are transient inhabitants of the human alimentary tract and may be isolated from the throat or lower intestine. Rhinoviruses, on the other hand are isolated chiefly from the nose and throat. The enterovirus Capsid is thought to be composed of 32 morphologic subunits, possible in the form of a rhombic triacontahedron rather than a regular icosahedron. Rhinovirus capsid architecture appears to be similar.
There may also be epithelial keratitis and occasionally lumbar radiculomyelopathy. The disease is commonest in adults, with an incubation period of a day and a duration of 8-10 days. Complete recovery is the rule. The virus is highly communicable and spreads rapidly under crowded or unhygienic conditions. There is no effective treatment. Hand foot mouth disease: This disease causes rashes on skin and is accompanied by fever and cough, sore mouth, loss of appetite, fatigue, headache and sore throat. It can be prevalent anywhere between three to six days.
This disease is caused by mites. They result in extreme itching that can be quite uncomfortable for the child. It is extremely contagious especially in case of direct contacts. Severe itching may be experienced in legs, arms, neck, head, soles and palms. Yeast Infections- Both oral (Thrush) and vaginal yeast infections occur more frequently in patients with diabetes due to the increased levels of sugar in the saliva and urine. Thrush will present as an opaque white film on the tongue and interior of the mouth and unlike milk or dairy residue cannot be scrapped off without bleeding. The symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection are itching, burning, redness and an abnormal discharge.
This is a fancy term for open sores that occur due to diabetic neuropathy, slow wound healing and infections that are aggravated by poor circulation.
