We all knew that the HTC 7 Pro would win many fans thanks to it specification, it is pleasing to see however that the more aesthetic elements also live up to expectations.
There is no doubt that the new 7 Pro handset from HTC is a phone laden with a great array of features, which include the useful Qwerty keypad, making the phone not only appeal to social networkers but also to the more business orientated user. It does however take more than features to make a successful handset, design elements also play a big part. So lets put to one side the enormous list of features available on this phone, and take a look at just how well it is designed.

Design wise, there is no doubt that this phone is an attractive looking model. These good looks can be part attributed to the phones combination of both plastic and metallic elements, giving interesting contrasts of colour throughout the phone, with the metal parts taking on an almost bronze finish, striking a nice balance against the matte black found on the plastic parts. Turning the phone over and looking at it from the front, then these contrasting colours are not so obvious, thanks in part to the phones display dominating much of the front panel, with just enough room left for an ultra slim chrome effect bezel to surround it. This bezel certainly adds a touch of class to the phone, making it look like a more high end phone than it actually is. Rather than incorporating physical buttons on the front of the phone, the three keys that are present take on a capacitive form rather like the screen, meaning that when the phone is locked, you see nothing but a black display, with these buttons only illuminating once the Pro is actually in use.

Any phone that incorporates a slider mechanism, be it for a keypad like on the HTC 7 Pro or for games controls as you will find on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, will inevitably carry a little more bulk than a handset without this feature. Having said that, this phone does a great job of keeping its physical dimensions to a minimum, with the overall depth being just 15.5mm, not vastly different from many modern phones. Likewise with the weight, a little more is expected so at 185 grammes it weighs considerably more than many smartphones. Yet rather than making the device feel to heavy, this extra size only seems to make the model seem extremely well built, giving a feeling of robustness and great build quality when in use.
