Welding is a process by which two metals or material arc connected or joined together these welding is mostly done by arc welding.
|
This process uses the ac or dc current. Through arc welding all most all materials are welded this welding can be done in farms, shops, garages and large maintenance department in different factories. These also have various purposes like repair, fabrication, and educational programs.
In arc welding, a arc is created by a welding power supply in between the base material and the electrode, so that metal is meld at the welding points. Consumable and non- consumable current electrode is used with direct current dc and alternating current ac. The area is protected using semi and a non semi gas. At some situation filler material is also used.
The type of welder mostly used for arc welding is AC/DC 240 volt transformers using electricity. Portable arc welders are also available. These types are powered by gasoline engines or diesel.
There are some safety procedures to be followed while arc welding. Proper installation and usage is important. The users should use safety gear so that they can protect against the toxic fumes , burns ,shocks ,noise and heat stress .etc… the bright light which comes out of welding should be avoided from eyes and gloves should be used to protect the welders from electric burns and the heat which is produced while welding.
The equipments used for arc welding should comply with the norms for design set already. The safety features norms should be according to the underwriter’s laboratories. This factor should be kept in mind while buying welding equipment.
An arc welder when installed should be check weather the current electric power in the place is capable of holding the extra load required by the arc welder Or a professional and well experienced electrician should be made to do the wiring for the same. The norms which the big companies have set in the field of welding has to be followed .and if the rules set are not followed then there always be a problem regarding the safety aspect and overload of current due to excess usage.
There are few important guidelines to be followed while an arc welding they are using the ac dc current. The arc welder frame should be properly grounded. A safety switch disconnecting should be in he place where welding is going on. The arc welder should be protected by a breaker fuse, circuit breaker or a independent circuit.
There should be adequate ventilation where arc welding is done. And in case were welding is done on non hazardous materials then there should be 2000 cubic feet per minute of air passage per arc welding. Where more ventilation is used when hazardous metals are melted. However its always good to take the advice and the guidance of the ventilation expert to follow the rules. The welding area should be kept clean in order to get proper welding otherwise the welding do not come out well.
These are the few guidelines which one should keep in mind while using ac/dc welders. Where two metals have to be joined in for any purpose in factory s shop then this welding is a great help. Therefore it is very important to know about the rules and regulations of welding by the welders.
