Among the many choices of air conditioning units avail, Trane air conditioners have a solid reputation. Most conditioning units are one of two types. They either regulate heat through evaporation or through refrigeration.

There are many options among air conditioners. Trane air conditioners enjoy a good reputation. These cooling units can be classified as one of two kinds. They are either evaporative units or refrigeration units. Each type of unit is built for efficiency in differing climatic conditions, such as humidity level.
These coolers, often times called desert or swamp units, work well when the air has little to no humidity. They function through evaporation and as such require water. This water is soaked up into a fabric pad. Hot, dry air is pulled through the pad. This causes some of the water to evaporate into the air. Some of the heat is trapped in the water vapor, which makes the air to feel cool and moister.
These units do have some weaknesses. Perhaps the most dangerous of these is the moist air they produce can lead to black mold, unless the air flow is properly vented. Achieving this flow is simple. This is achieved by opening a window, even just a little. Wooden furniture is also effected by the moisture. It swells when exposed to moist air and shrinks when it dries out. This cycle can damage the furniture. A final common problem is that these units do not work well on days with high humidity.
Refrigeration units are known by different things in different countries. In some areas they are called central air, while in other areas they are known as air con. They use heat transfer to remove interior heat. Hot air passed among cold coils. These coils are filled with a refrigerant. Heat from the air is pulled into the liquid refrigerant, causing it evaporate. The substance in its gaseous state carries the heat outside into condenser coils. There, the substance releases heat and is cooled down into a liquid state again. The excess heat is released to the atmosphere. In its liquid form, the refrigerant is sent back to the beginning of the cycle.
During the seventeen hundred fifties, these principles of refrigeration were discovered by Ben Franklin and Professor John Hadley. These Americans conducted some experiments on a bulb thermometer. By evaporating a liquid, they were able to reduce the temperature of the mercury by some thirty two degrees centigrade. Michael Farady, a scientist from Great Brittan, took these experiments and used other kinds of liquids to cool the mercury.
A doctor from the state of Florida, John Gorrie, took the technology to make an ice machine. With his machine, he froze water. He used the ice to cool air for his patients. He met with such success that he desired to build units for the general public. His plans were wrecked when his financial support died.
A New Yorker, Willis Carrier, brought the his version of this technology to market just after the turn of the twentieth century. His units cooled textile plants. As people heard about his units, they wanted them for their homes.
As the years went by, more companies were founded to fill the demand for these units. Trane air conditioners is among the competitors and has built a solid reputation.
