LGV, HGV and PCV are different types of Driving licence. LGV stands for "Large Goods Vehicle". HGV stands for “Heavy Goods Vehicle” while PCV stands for Passenger Carrying Vehicle. All the three have their own significant purpose of existence. As these words show clearly LGV Licence is required for driving large vehicles, HGV Licence is required for heavy goods vehicle and PCV Licence is required for driving passenger carrying vehicle. However each type requires Driver Training for which many Driver Training Courses are available. Now Let us see some differences among them.
As mentioned earlier LGV is a large vehicle driver ans so he needs to note the sequence of steps to become an LGV driver, even before the commencement of LGV Training Course. The initial step is to go through a medical examination which would be provided by the potential driver's doctor. The next step to receive LGV training involves driver's assessment to judge . This usually tests his current driving skills. The last step of LGV training would be to enrol in a single-day theoretical course. Only once this course is completed then LGV written test can be taken. Those who finish the LGV driver training successfully have more chances to earn than those who have undertaken the HGV driver training. Highly successful drivers can even make up to about £35,000 per annum .
HGV Driver Training is not just costly but also very difficult and time consuming. HGV is divided into two categories of driving license, the first one N2 and the other N3 license. The N2 license is meant for drivers who are willing to carry maximum allowed load raging from 3.5 to 12 tons, whereas N3 license is for drivers who can drive heavy vehicle that can handle over 12 tons. There are two methods by which one can avail HGV Licence. One way can be by getting sponsor you if you have somebody who will, while the other way can be by reimbursing for the license yourself. It is said that paying for a HGV license that is the second option is a much better when compared. However in earlier times, HGV was quite famous unlike today where its popularity is affected to a great extent.
In the United Kingdom , PCV Licence enables the holder to drive buses and minibuses, depending on which category of driving test the potential driver is passing. D is the full category which a holder can drive passenger carrying recovery vehicle which has an uncharged weight of not more than 10.2 tonnes and is functioned under PSV that is Public Service Vehicle Operator's Licence. Hence before going for driving licence, the purpose behind it should be very clear. There are many organizations who provide Driver Training Courses with 100% guarantee. So one does not need to worry.
