Remember the days when you’re house didn’t even have a bathroom? Well, maybe not but my Grandma does! It was just a case of a tin bath placed in the kitchen and it was filled with hot water and not every-day either. These days, we place far more emphasis on this space in our homes and for good reason.
The stresses of day to day life are such that we all look forward to getting home, kicking our shoes off and relaxing in a warm bath. This is why the space we “soak” in has become so important. We don’t want to just jump in the bath, wash and then jump out again as that is what showers are for.
Not only is it important that we have those little luxuries liked scented candles, or those marvellous inventions “bath bombs” with us when we take a bath, the decor that surrounds us is important as well.
Creating the Perfect Bathroom for You
Everybody has their own tastes; we’re all unique in our own way which is a good thing because if we were all the same life would be very dull indeed. This is why the choices open to you when you’re re-designing the bathroom in your home are endless, especially now that so much is available online.
Colours of course, are important, but it’s the little gadgets that we all love as well. When you’re thinking about creating the perfect space for you, bear this in mind. Would you prefer a bath/shower combination or something separate; although space does often limit you if you decide to separate fixtures but only have a small room.
If you do intend to have a shower installed separately you need to work out what kind of shower doors will suit you and your bathroom design best. Many of us forget the maintenance behind the design of this room. For example, if you go for a shower curtain, you have to be careful that mould doesn’t start to appear where it has got wet. If you choose a solid shower door, think about how easy it will be to clean.
There are all sorts of things to think about, so it’s best to write “wish list”, and take it from there. At least you’ll have something to fall back on when you go shopping.
A Few Last Things to Consider
Keep your budget in mind. It’s all very well looking at shower trays and shower enclosures that have modern and innovative designs, but if you blow your entire budget on that then you won’t have any money left for a shower head, let alone a bath!
Don’t over complicate things. For example, if you like bold colours perhaps choose a shower curtain that reflects this but keep everything around it neutral. This will give a feeling of space, but will show-off your personality as well.
The fact is that your bathroom is not just a place to wash anymore as they are a means of escape from the world and a place where we can spend some well needed time pampering ourselves. Therefore it is crucial that we make it as comfortable as possible.
