Take a moment and picture this setting in your head: a warm ocean breeze blows gently across barrier islands, gorgeous coastal beaches, sand dunes and wetlands, each one being sculpted by nature. Next, picture the perfect weather; a mild, long gorgeous fall and spring season and a not so terribly cold winter season. Lastly picture, endless summer days of beautiful sunsets and clear skies as you overlook many distinct, luxurious golf courses that are open year round.

Here are just a few of the many reasons you should plan your next golf vacation in the Outer Banks of NC. Other than the warm ocean waters, pristine beaches that stretch for miles, fresh produce and seafood, rich local history, and unique wildlife, you should plan your next Outer Banks beach vacation here for these reasons: The Outer Banks is home to nine amazing golf courses, each with its own personality and unique challenges. Five of them located on the Currituck County mainland, three more are in Dare County and yet another one on the waterfront in Corolla. These golf courses cater to every skill level, whether you’re a pro or a beginner. Here is a breakdown of the area’s golf courses:

- The Carolina Club – This one is near Grandy on the Currituck mainland and it draws golfers of all ages. This golf course has an inviting design and incorporates several challenges. It has 7,000 yards and a par 72 course, which features stunning greens and clusters of trees.

- Goose Creek Golf and Country Club – Also in Grandy, this is a great choice for those who don’t take golfing as seriously as others. It is 6,200 yards and a par-72 layout that is open all year long and features a driving range.

- Kilmarlic Golf Club – This one’s in Powell’s Point, which is also on the Currituck mainland. It’s the newest of all of the courses in the Outer Banks area and is nestled in a gorgeous housing development in a heavily wooded area. It’s 6,500 yards and has amazing par-3s, including a couple that are over water.

- The Pointe Golf Club – Also in Powell’s Point, is known as a fair but tough golf course that is very well maintained. Its player-friendly, yet challenging design is dotted with pines, cypresses, and wax myrtles along gorgeous fairways.

- Holly Ridge Golf Course – This is a shorter course located in Harbinger that will challenge those who are recreational golfers. It has 5,500 yards and 18 holes with a par-71. You can golf in a relaxed setting here.

- The Currituck Club – You’ll want to reserve your tee-time early here! Located in Corolla and created by Rees Jones, the Currituck Club has an amazing setting. Bordered by the Currituck Sound to the west and offering ocean views to the east this course is truly a gem!

- Duck Woods Country Club – Designed by Ellis Maples this semi-private course is open to the public however members have priority for tee times. Every hole is a challenge here and the views are amazing.

- Seascape Golf Links – Located in Kitty Hawk this Scottish style course boasts windswept dunes, ocean views and maritime forests. Definitely a must for golfers visiting the Outer Banks!
