During the morning, you may hike up to the topmost point to be reached during the Salkantay or Lares trek. After that you will gradually descend into warmer climate though the trail will be continuously rolling up and down.

On the 3rd day, you can have the choice of checking out the wonderful hot springs beside the Santa Teresa. These are continuously reconstructed after the 2010 flood but some of the pools are reopened. You will also get cheap lodges here during your Salkantay trek that will bring in a beautiful change other than tent sleeping.

On the 5th hiking day, you may be well into the jungle area of the Salkantay or Ausangate trek as you will be gradually approaching the Aguas Calientas. With an extensive range of bananas, orchids, coffee beans, flowers and fruits, the vegetation reflects the climate of the place. In spite of the humidity and the heat, it is a beautiful ending to the trek and is really unbelievable that you were actually trembling on the very first night.
