The popularity of medieval clothing has not vanished yet. People are always excited to wear medieval clothes and be a part of renaissance festivals and fairs. These festivals renew the life of the renaissance period. It helps people to have a feel of that period. Most interesting part of these fairs is that people express different characters with costumes like gowns, robes, bodices, collars etc.
The medieval costumes are very interesting and provide antique appearance. Women love to wear long stunning gowns to have the royalty feel. Women clothing in the medieval period were colorful and stitched well with cinched waist. Materials used for these dresses were soft and sensitive such as velvet which was quite comfortable, this kind of distinct blend aides in enhancing the look of renaissance clothes. Tunics were generally loose fitted were part of the medieval dressing of men. Sleeves of these tunics were long. Pants were worn underneath their tunic. Women used to wear tunics that were till their ankles. Instead of pants, they used socks or tights on legs.
In medieval era, leather shoes were worn by the affluent people since they were expensive. Peasants used to wear wrappings of skin or rounded shoes with wooden souls. Tipped or pointed shoes were very popular at that time. Sometimes the front portion of the shoes was bent upwards. Various kinds of medieval clothes and accessories are available online. In order to complete the appearance of medieval period, one can wear high boots made of leather and hand skilled embellishments.
Renaissance clothes signify the medieval period. Renaissance shirts of men were loose fitted with inflated shoulders and had attached sleeves. Materials used were brocade, damask and velvet. The shirts were worn with pants which were cushioned breeches with broad brimmed hats. Jerkins were quite famous during renaissance period. It is short and without sleeves leather jacket which looks same like vest or waistcoat today. Women and men dresses were of similar colors and materials. Their dresses were made of expensive fabrics with lot of silver and golden embroidery done on them. Women used to wear crowns as head piece.
Pirate clothing is very popular with people these days courtesy pirate movies. Pirate clothing is unique and distinct which is quite evident from their shirts. Pirate shirts, shirt is frilly, loose fitted with drooping shoulders which augment the rawness of the pirate appearance. Materials used for pirate clothes include cotton, leather, linen, canvass and wool. Pirate captains in order to show their superiority used fabrics that were ostentatious, costly and premium. Pirate breeches were made up of high quality velvet. Their costumes were adorned with expensive metals like gold. Look of pirate is incomplete without eye patch.
