how to get your home cosy and ready for the long winter nights
Autumn is that time of the year when nature and outdoors come into full splendour as all the trees and greenery bloom into a myriad of colours that is a feast for the eyes. Naturally your home cannot afford to be the speck in all this glory and getting your home ready to welcome the season is something you will be thinking about.
Autumn is that time of the year when nature and outdoors come into full splendour as all the trees and greenery bloom into a myriad of colours that is a feast for the eyes. Naturally your home cannot afford to be the speck in all this glory and getting your home ready to welcome the season is something you will be thinking about.
Autumn is a time to enjoy the sunsets before the seasons change and your exterior decoration will naturally tend to highlight the autumn theme colours, with oranges and rusts and golden yellows festooning your sun porch or patio for those special outdoor experiences. A pretty wreath hanging by the patio or entry door is a cute little touch at this time of the year and goes a long way to add definition, ambience and character to your home. Autumn is also the time for special events and the season’s most appetizing produce like the pumpkins and apples gracefully placed around in your favourite living space can add that special welcoming touch to your decoration efforts
But as the temperatures drop the focus will begin to shift to the fireplace and you will want to look at you interior decor and how it sets off that centre piece of your living space come the winter. While you do not need to redesign the decor the colour scheme should be fixed to blend nicely with the fireplace, with dried leaves, gourds and pumpkins adorning the mantel and theme-coloured throw blankets to cover the couches for a cosy overall effect
And finally you need to bring the aroma of the fall into your home with the smell of pumpkin pie or cinnamon apple cider. It may not be too early to give the fireplace a go at this time, if only to bring that fire smell home early. Candles and incense will definitely be appropriate at this time though.
