Anyone can do a tarot reading, but it takes effort and commitment to gain a depth of understanding of the cards. Some people simply read the card interpretations in books, while others find they have a special talent for just "knowing" what the cards mean. Many people who read tarot cards for others find it better to have someone else do their own reading so that the reading is more objective.
The person consulting the Tarot card reader is often referred to as the Querent. Now it is also possible to do a reading for yourself and be your own Querent, but keep in mind that this doesn't always yield the best results. The main reason for this is that it is very difficult to remain objective - you're often simply too close to the subject to see conditions as they really are. The tarot card reader shuffles the cards and instructs the Querent to ask a question aloud. As a querent, you must open yourself to the infinite. Please keep in mind that the Tarot is not is "evil" or "magic" or even "psychic". It is important to remember that the cards have no power in and of themselves, it's the tarot card reader that gives real meaning to these readings.
