When he was small the family moves to Tijuana, a city on Mexico's border with California, and then San Francisco. His journey towards music started when he met Javier Bátiz, a famous guitarist from Tijuana. After he learnt Javier Batiz's techniques, Santana makes them his own, may be that is the reason his music comes straight from heart.

But after the death of Sri Chinmoy, he started feeling the real meaning of life. It is in this period that he also forgives the molester who molested him during his childhood.
He now believes that the only reality in life is god’s love, rest is absolute illusion.
