Sometimes your HP printer shows up printer offline error while attempting to print. This mainly occurs when your HP printer is being shared with other computers in a network. HP printer offline problem can occur due to many reasons. Improper configuration could make printers unstable and you may continuously get HP printer offline message.
Whenever you come across a printer error, first step to do is to make sure that your printer installation was proper. In most case the printer errors can be resolved by just performing a printer software or driver reinstallation. Most of Windows operating systems include universal plug and play feature that enables users to just plug devices and start working with it. Driver programs are automatically installed for these plug and play devices.

Even though it's designed to make device installation easier, sometimes plug and play feature causes trouble. Most of the printers are shipped with printer software which includes driver to make the printer work and utilities to allow users manage the printer effectively. You just have to run the installation CD and follow the on screen instructions to proceed with printer installation. You need to connect the printer when prompted. As soon as the printer is detected, the printer software installation kit extracts the driver and installs it for you. If the printer is not detected the installation stops. Here comes the problem. If you connect the printer before installing the software, Windows installs the suitable driver for it and once the driver is installed, printer cannot be detected by the printer installation software. Hence, the installation fails and some of the printer features do not work effectively.

At times, printers work fine but frequently they change the status to office and HP printer offline error message pops up. Hence, it is recommended not to connect the printer before installing the printer software. Insert the installation disc in and proceed with the installation, connect the printer only when you are prompted to install. Printer Installation from the installation CD allows you to install additional printer functionality such as memory card reader etc.

There are a number of ways by which you can troubleshoot Printer Errors. In some case the printer configuration can cause problems. Hence, changing few settings can fix the issue. Power cord or data cable (USB cable) could be faulty in few cases and if HP printer goes offline, replacing the power cord will be the only option.
