An attractive but secure security screen door and bars on the windows make your house a non target for a would be intruder
In this day and age security is a must wherever we live. Throughout the world and even in Australia everyone is being subjected to attacks by would be criminals.

We hear and read an awful lot about computer security. So called 'hackers' seem to be able to get into the most amazingly secure systems and wreak havoc. There is a teenager in England right now, fighting extradition to the United States, because he managed to hack into the Pentagon. If a guy manages that what chance has an ordinary citizen like you or me got of protecting our data from a would be determined cyber criminal.,

Not a lot but the good news is that as individuals we are probably not a target. Unless you get scammed by one of the thousands of con artists who are in operation on the internet every day, like believing that someone is going to give you a lot of money for laundering his, or selling something for which you receive a cheque for a greater value than the sale, and the 'buyer' asks you to give the change to the guy who is going to receive your item after a couple of days when the cheque has 'cleared'. (What actually has to happens is that the cheque has to physically go, by various routes to the drawing bank where it is repudiated. Your account is then immediately debited and not only have you lost the goods but you have been conned out of the change as well.)

Failing being conned, which can happen to anybody as there are some very smooth operators out there, your data is relatively safe. You are strongly recommended however to use different passwords for your Bank you email accounts, PayPal and the like. And if you do use your credit or debit card on line then scrutinize your bills carefully as credit card fraud and identity theft are rife.

But our houses are in fact also vulnerable to burglary. Fuelled by the rising drug problem in Australia (and worldwide) chance thieves are raiding homes all over. A determined thief can break into most house along your street as many Australians are very lax about security. If there are a gang of burglars targeting an area they are after things that can be quickly and easily converted into cash. Obviously this includes cash but also jewelry, Flat screen TVs, computers and other electronic equipment.

It is very costly and very troublesome to make oneself impregnable. And usually being impregnable is not required. All one needs to do is make oneself a non target. The way to do that is make it apparent to a would be intruder that he would have to go to extraordinary lengths to break in, so he should not bother and go somewhere where he can walk right in.

The simplest and most apparent way is to have secure screen doors and window bars visible from the outside. As he walks in he can see that he is going to need an angle grinder and a lot of time to get in and he will move off.
