The entire purpose of using a laptop is to be on the move. The idea of portability is in the name itself. A person wants to be able to put their feet up in their living room, move onto the comfy chair in the coffee shop, and they want full access to everything a computer can do. Unfortunately, that isn't always possible, but what you can find are printers for laptops.

With wanting full access to a computer's abilities come some hindrances. One in particular has long been printing. There is no direct method of choice as of now, but that doesn't mean one is without options. Quite the opposite.

Some people will rely on transferring data between flash drives and their home computers, or sending what they wish to have printed to a proxy, such as FedEx. However, it doesn't have to be such a runaround process. Printers aren't the gigantic machines they once wore. In fact, there are many sleek alternatives.

Popular companies such as Dell and Hewlett Packard (HP) appear to monopolize the printer world and create competition out of shopping. However, by knowing exactly what you need your laptop printer for, one can quickly pick the best device.

While sleuthing Dell, one will clearly see why their printers are often found in businesses. For a small business looking to have its laptops hooked up in the office, they're ideal. Although, not a lot of people who are just using a laptop require all the features of a business printer. Often, Dell's printers will carry a certain bulk than others, because of everything they can do. When you're a person with a laptop trying to keep it light, that can be a deal breaker.

HP has long been known to represent printers. It encompasses all the needs of small business, larger businesses, and personal use one could want. Since so many people generally want a printer to match the identity of their laptop, they're a safe recommendation. They offer a strong size, design, and bang for your buck on a regular basis.

The next issue, after you've chosen the right printer, is determining how your product is going to hook into your laptop, and which means is best suited for you.

One of the most widely chosen options is the USB cable. It's quick and cheap. All you have to do is connect it between the laptop and printer and you're virtually ready to go.

Another option is what is called a firewire cable. It is a pricier piece to own, but it's simply because of what it can do. Say you want to upload video footage from your camcorder or digital camera. It can do it in seconds. Most laptops often come standard with a firewire connector its become so popular. Granted, you pay for what you get.

The final form is syncing. This is without question the easiest and, most often, the quickest. Simply, install your printer onto your laptop by way of a USB cable, choose a syncing option in the installation directions, and you're done. The downside: your printing and printer is now limited to home use. This isn't ideal for people who are trying to print from satellite locales. Additionally, the syncing option can be prone to power outages that may cause you to re-sync.

Once you have these basic decisions made, you're ready to go out and find all the printers for laptops you can handle!
