Depending on whether you are a bride, a bridesmaid or a guest, though, you need to concentrate on more than just your style, you have to invest in different modes of comfort as well.
Whether a bride, a bridesmaid or a guest, the one thing a woman wants to be at a wedding is beautiful. To put on a perfect make up, a gorgeous dress and a pair of killer shoes and to show up at the ceremony with a big smile, ready to hear her share of compliments. Depending on whether you are a bride, a bridesmaid or a guest, though, you need to concentrate on more than just your style, you have to invest in different modes of comfort as well.

A bride is the star of the day, so a spectacular look is a must, hence a journey through a number of designer wedding dresses until you find the one. When you do, though, and it fits right making you feel gorgeous, you need to get it and make it work. However, since many designer wedding dresses involve bodices, full skirts, intricate ornaments or hard to get closures, you might want to make sure that one of your bridesmaids is always nearby in case you need to use the restroom, or you might end up unable to handle your dress in the time of need. A princess like dress might be a challenge outside of the reception room, but inside it it’s a blessing, as you can take off those toe pinching shoes and slip into comfortable flats without anyone noticing, so you can dance all night away. Simply keep a pair by your chair and change unnoticeably.

Bridesmaids are not only there to look pretty, but most importantly they are at the wedding to support the bride. Sometimes it means helping with her dress, sometimes it means rushing the caterer or handling the band, in each case making a comfortable bridesmaid dress a necessity. To assure that much needed comfort a bride should opt for dresses that won’t be in the way, so be careful with strapless designs that may try to slip off, long bridesmaid dresses that may get in a way of a rushing bridesmaid or bows, flowing sleeves, puffy skirts and other excess fabric that can end up in the cake icing or red wine sauce.

Guests show up at a wedding to celebrate the union and to have fun, and that means getting away from the seat and moving, whether to mingle or to dance. And if you want to be a comfortable guest who has fun, and not a sulking loner at the table, investing in comfy shoes to go with your pretty dress should be a priority. Heels or flats, sandals or pumps, they’re all fine as long as they’re not making you cry with each step. So walk around in the store before you even buy them, and once you do, take some time to break them in around the house, so you don’t find out on the big day you bought a pair of vices instead of footwear.

It’s important to look nice at a wedding, no matter your role, because one, you’ll feel better, and two, there will be pictures taken. Sacrificing your comfort for a perfect look, however, is a bad idea, because you can only force yourself to smile trough tears of pain for so long. So definitely invest in a great dress, put on a perfect make up, but make sure that you’ll be feeling as great as you’ll be looking before you head to the ceremony.
