With a worldwide release in late September and a breathtaking trailer, the new "MEUPORG" Square Enix has many trump cards. Indeed, a year after its announcement at E3, Final Fantasy XI was on paper the future pretender to the throne of the famous online game from Blizzard.

Yet it seems that the recently released update 4.0.1 for World of Warcraft, which prepares the arrival of the latest add-on Cataclysm, come put a spoke in the wheels of the last baby online Japanese firm. But is this the only possible reason for this failure? We will try to answer them as best we can.
Since its announcement last year at E3, Final Fantasy XI, available since Tuesday, October 5, 2010 on PC in Europe, has not ceased to be talked about. I must admit that the trailer shown at Square Enix conference left the audience in silence admiring and understandably. Somewhere, the success of its predecessor, Final Fantasy XI has been proven. Released in 2002 in Japan as Square Enix Online drained to almost 500,000 subscribers and nearly 2 million active characters in late 2009. A trifle vis-à-vis the behemoth of the genre, WoW which totaled 11 million that year and a half of active accounts. But the comparison stops there, since the two games do not fully addressed in the same category of players. Since its launch, FF XI has nonetheless seen its total add-on amount to four, wow it will post its third add-on December 7 this year. It must be said that the title of the online Japanese firm has maintained a core fan hardcore gamer to play because the former title he took courage, as was the difficulty of implementation.

Beautiful scenery though somewhat empty
But back on topic! FF XIV matter what they say has a clean slate of bullet points of his past. Firstly the graphics are great if at any point as long as you own a PC art, to display all the options. The decorations of the three capitals of departure, like the last album are all very different and daunting. You'll have time to start a town in the middle of lush vegetation, in a city market or the edge of a cliff city in the middle of rocky peaks. Only downside to such lavish sets, vacuum effect, as the streets of these citadels are broad and wide areas.
A chaotic start
How about a MMO, without presenting the creation of your avatar you will follow throughout his career. First, it absolutely must not think we'll get the fun of the thing that will follow as it is important to understand the state of mind where one is when the game starts then: explanation. After installation the game smoothly your servant, not a total idiot computer issue, did not take long to find it difficult just to create the account. You should know that nothing is said except for an address when it makes you not take any hand in, it starts badly! After these incidents, one must understand oneself as "buy" a slot to create your future character is managed at the site of Square Enix. Finally a new procurement system by the virtual object, the Crysta, made its appearance to give you different options. You get to follow? No? This is normal you are in the policy you get by! Please remember that this system is normally adapted to avoid any kind of fraud (goldeurs) but also for parents to purchase the necessary amount of Crysta in order to control the playing time for their children. For that we can only congratulate our Japanese friends!

After having sweated blood and water and bought a character slot, we here at the famous creation page. Finally, our expectations are rewarded, and now we can choose the image of the eleventh album in nearly the same type of race. The Tarutaru are left up to their cousins Lalafells, Mithra, these women feline curves have given way to Miqo'tes and humans (Hume) are now Hyur. The name change does not make us stupid for not believing that something has changed. At first glance, this aspect may seem disappointing but just go to the customization of your character to realize that we care less about the players. In fact, the choice of customizing your avatar will remain quite crude: skin color, hair color and locks and a few distinguishing marks like scars or marks are native to almost your only marks of distinction. Even the choice of hairstyle for your virtual friend would be an easy task because you do not give the possibility to rotate your avatar to see behind your styling! Knowing that we spend 90% of the game to see his character behind it is still natural to choose the mop is his magnificent Lalafell. You'll understand the purely physical creation is not a success.

The tools that's life!
By the following cons aroused our curiosity to the highest point. For once in an MMO, you're given the choice of departure in your discipline. In the joys of making a class action oriented, harvest or craft-based. Whatever your decision to start, nothing will remain frozen. For in fact, in Final Fantasy XI is the tool that makes the class. Nothing prevents you start with a minor and then complete a trade with artisan blacksmith to manage your supply without having to spend millions of gil. Here, do not loot armor egg on a squirrel! The possibilities become endless customizations. You might as well mount a gladiator and a profession elementalist and you can heal yourself in combat. But be careful, be aware that every physical level reaches you in making choices for both your affinity for your basic physical characteristics such as strength or magic and that is where FF XIV makes sense.
Questionable gameplay

Final Fantasy XI is not directed at any player. The new MMORPG from Square Enix, is the online game typically Japanese, like its predecessor, you will require extreme patience whatsoever for trades harvest or craft (very high rate of failure and lack of Information on the syntheses of object). Unfortunately, it will take on many latencies of servers, which results in a time Display NPCs incredibly long and worries of gameplay where you battle with a class remotely.

Verdict!
Contrary to what we have argued above, Final Fantasy XI is not a bad game per se, if you have great patience and play an online game means to you, take your time, enjoy the scenery stretches out of sight and then calmly make decisions is made for you. For others, we strongly advise against getting close failing to surrender after a few hours of play
It is certain that the Japanese public is already the eleventh episode addict will enjoy this latest installment as it provides significant improvements with respect to its predecessor. For the European public, however, the title of Square Enix likely to break teeth, facing the giant World of Warcraft.
