Digital cameras have brought nothing short of a revolution in the world of photography. There is a great range of choice and new innovative models are being introduced everyday. With these cameras it is now possible for all to take good pictures. However, there are certain points to be ascertained before you can become an expert in clicking pictures. Some important points to remember before you click the shutter are discussed here.
1. Be sure of the purpose of the picture: You could tell stories with your photographs. The photo you are about to take could be one in a series, maybe of a seminar, function or travel. Find its place before you click and ask yourself what you are trying to convey through this shot.
2. Decide the focal point of the picture: Here you need to know what is the main point of the picture that you would like your audience to see? Concentrate on the focal point and if there are competing focal points then decide if you want to include them or if they take away the limelight from your focal point. Digital cameras can be zoomed in to concentrate on exactly what you would like to come in the picture. Remove the clutter or take separate photos of the different focal points. However, some secondary focal points can actually lend class to your photograph.
3. A good background and a foreground: This is undoubtedly required to make a good picture. Having a good foreground is not enough; a fitting background should complement the foreground. Ascertain before you click that the lovely foreground also has an equally good background.
4. Too small or too big subjects: Clicking pictures with very small subjects is very common in digital photography and you realize only after the picture has been clicked. Sometimes if you click from too close some parts of your picture could be below or above the picture vision and get cut off. Maintain a good distance from the subject that is not too close and not too far for a perfect picture.
5. Light is of prime importance: Determine the source of light and whether it is sufficient for the picture. If not then arrange for a supplementary source of light. In digital cameras it is possible to adjust light settings and make even night pictures look bright.
6. Make your pictures stand out: Click pictures that are a little unusual from the rest. Do not follow other photographers and take the same regular shot however good. Make a few changes in perspective and then click something that is different from the rest.
7. Avoid inclined angles and sloping: Some of us have the habit of taking pictures that have people looking slightly bent or leaning. The sloping needs to be avoided unless there is a purpose. Keep your camera straight before you aim.
Digital cameras provide the scope for taking excellent pictures. They also make it possible for the photographer to make changes to the picture. In this way some good pictures marred by a few unbecoming flaws can be sorted out. Choose from the wide variety of cameras available now by keeping in view your requirements.
