"Many people celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving and other holidays with a nice, big turkey meal shared with family and friends. But while it sounds delectably enjoyable, just the thought of preparing a turkey meal can cause wrinkles and a headache to appear. Roasting a turkey can be hard—especially if you don’t have the proper equipment. But with a good turkey electric roaster, the process can be made much easier and more convenient. The right turkey roasters can also help to significantly reduce turkey cooking times, so that the cook need not wait for hours before he and everyone else can sit down to a wonderful turkey dinner.
Roasting turkey times are definitely shorter compared to oven-cooking a turkey. It is estimated that roasters cut down the cooking time by about 30%. What’s also great is that they consume much less energy, about 75% less, compared to traditional ovens. Just make sure to read the instructions carefully, understand them, and have the bird prepared properly before putting the turkey in roaster. For one thing, the right amount of heat corresponding to the weight of the turkey must be used.
Preparing the turkey often begins with washing it properly and then patting it dry. That done, place seasonings into the cavity of the turkey. These usually include salt, pepper, garlic powder, basil, and onion. There are the basic ingredients, but some people may add other “secret ingredients” they know about. Once done, the next step is to put the turkey into the roaster, making sure to select the right temperature setting according to the instructions that came with the roaster.
One should also make sure that the turkey is thoroughly done before removing it from the roaster. Get a fork, and insert it on the breast part of the turkey. Juice should seep out. If the juice is clear, the turkey is done. Wait for about 15 minutes after getting it out of the roaster before serving it.
That sounds easy enough, assuming that you have gotten a good roaster. If you don’t have one yet, choosing a good turkey roaster is also not a complicated matter—if you know what features to look for. Most people choose a rival 18 quart roaster oven, and this is generally the recommended size. This size of a rival turkey roaster can easily accommodate a large bird that can feed the whole family plus some guests. The 18 quart roaster pan also has other uses aside from roasting. It can bake and cook the whole bird, up to about 18 pounds of it. It can be used to cook soups and pies too. Lastly, the pan can also be used as the dish on which to serve the roasted turkey. Roaster ovens of this size typically measure 23.5 x 17 x 9.5 inches, or something close to these dimensions.
Adjustable temperature settings are another must-have feature of a good rival roaster. It would be great if the exterior of the roaster doesn’t get too hot while it is roasting, so that accidental burns are prevented.
Many stores, both online and brick-and-mortar ones, offer various models of roaster ovens. Compare the features and prices of the available models. If buying online, check the shipping costs as well.
