Many people are using the internet to expand their knowledge of the English language. English has become an easy mode of communication and has been popularized as the language of the internet. Language teachers use it for research on improving and extending the language. Interactive forums on the Internet proved a boon for the English learners and their started using it for their benefit.A fluent English speaker can get a good job very easily as the employer are ready to accept those who have a good knowledge of this global language. Many of us lack confidence because we do not know effective communication skills but learning this widely used language would solve this problem and make you stand apart from the rest of the competitors.
Understanding Prepositions
The word preposition comes from a Latin word. It is a linking word which links nouns, pronouns and other phrases between words to form a sentence. It is almost always before the noun or pronoun and that is the reason it is called a preposition. It serves syntactic functions and semantic roles in the English grammar. The primary function of a preposition is relational. A preposition precedes its complement to form a prepositional phrase.
Use of Preposition
Prepositions can work as a:-
Modifier to a verb
Modifier to a noun
Complement of a noun
Complement of another preposition etc.

The book is on the table.
The rat is in the hole.
Ferry me across the river.
The bird is sitting on the roof.
The decision went in favor of the batsmen.
