Good books (like Panchatantra, Bhagavad Gita, Bible, etc.) are ageless. These classics help us think in new and superior ways. Many good people have written books in English, which means that by learning English, one can get access to their thoughts. Another useful feature of English is that when someone writes in Russian, Italian, French or Portuguese and if it is a good book, there is a good chance that the book will have a good English translation because of the large population of English readers.
Moreover, reading regional translations of the literature may have wrong interpretations or poor translation. Therefore, by learning English you can get direct exposure to best cultures of the world, which is very inspiring and develops your personality. It gives access to wisdom from all across the world. Your development could be stunted and you could lose out in today’s competitive world if you cannot read English. Most importantly, you may be performing below your true capabilities and losing out an opportunity.
