The Engineering subject is an art of applying technical, scientific and mathematical knowledge to designing materials, structures, devices, machines, systems and a process that will allow to realize the desired objective or invention.
There are various stream of specialization in Engineering. The discipline of engineering encompasses a range of more specialized sub disciplines, each having more specific emphasis on particular areas of technology and application.
Engineering has existed since ancient times as humans invented the fundamental devices like wheel, pulley and lever. In the human history from the ancient times and further as human progressed, humans designed structures such as bridges and building material and the present human devised computers. Therefore engineering art is found in every day’s item. Our homes are filled with products that have been made using the engineering knowledge.
To study engineering one has to go to an Engineering college. The Engineering colleges have designed their programs for engineering students such that the fundamentals are first covered in the study material which is taught in the initial years. The then the diverse fields of engineering are added in the subject. Making sub division of the engineering programs such that the student can pursue from then on in the field of his or her interest more deeply and mastering it.
The branches in the Engineering college that you will normally find are Chemical engineering, Civil engineering, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering. With advancement in technology there are new branches that have developed and the Engineering college has added that to their engineering program they are, materials engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, mechatronics, robotics, nanotechnology, agricultural engineering, tribology, molecular engineering and many more. For each of the branches and fields that are mentioned above we find that in engineering there is considerable overlap, especially in the area of the application of science to their discipline such as mathematics, chemistry and physics.
Good students from Engineering college have a very good career. Their profession is respected in the society and looked up very highly. The pay scales of the engineers are much better than any other profession when compared. Engineering focuses on invention and make things that do not exist in nature.
