Human nature is fickle - an established fact. But, the extent to which it lets its fickleness proceed is a variable - fathomless and something that cannot be measured by mere examples. This character of man is subject to the bigger picture and somehow, it always seems rosy on the other side.
To watch the world from the outside is a task in itself, but when you do, you’d hope that you lived in a place where capriciousness is absent. Instead, all you have is your strength, or whatever is left of it, to release your mind from this inconstancy. It is this premise, which compelled director Susanne Bier to create a masterpiece like ‘In a Better World’. Awarded the Golden Globe for best Foreign Language Film, the movie has people hording online entertainment portals for a glimpse.
The plot of the film revolves around two families, which have one thing in common – tensed relationships. Anton (Mikael Persbrandt) and Marianne (Trine Dyrholm) is a married couple with two kids. The couple is going through a rough patch, with a looming divorce, and the two boys to look after. While Anton is away at a refugee camp in Sudan, his wife in a serene town in Denmark, is struggling to keep the relationship going. This is a single storyline, which could form a film on its own. But, when you watch In a Better World online, you’ll see that that’s not the only path, the plot takes!
As the film progresses, Christian (William Jøhnk Nielsen) and his father Claus (Ulrich Thomsen) come to town, having just returned from London. Christian is a morose child, who has recently lost his mother to cancer, and blames his father for it. The boy crosses paths with Elias (Markus Rygaard), Marianne’s older child, when the latter is saved by Christian, from some bullying school ruffians!
As you watch, you will see how strong the relationship between the two kids becomes, who find their sorrow as the common links. One child without a mother, and the other who is scared of his parents’ divorce, are such situations, that make people wish they lived in a better world. But this strong bond becomes deadly, when Christian takes Elias under his wing for a mission of revenge! With a plot that has children acting like venomous adults, the movie is a must-see, and you can do so via online entertainment portals.
The simultaneous plot of Anton hitting boulders of his own in Sudan will surely take you by surprise. Now it’s up to the parents to watch what the kids are up to, and teach them how life should be in a better world.
