With today’s technological advances in building of high performance mobile offshore oil rigs, comes with an increase complexity of having reliable, efficient, safe and cost effective electrical solution to ensure maximum uptime and optimal performance. In such a challenging era, customers have to find proven and trusted companies to find turnkey electrical system solutions, design services and total system studies for wide spectrum of offshore vessels like FPSO, jack up rigs & semi-submersible rigs, accommodation Vessels for the oil & gas industry.
Electrical system solutions involve generation, distribution & power management systems, marine vessel automation including dynamic positioning system, process control system, jacking enhanced monitoring, rack phase difference monitoring, and thruster motor, diesel engine propulsion package, marine system for auto telephone, CCTV, PA and rudder angle indication systems for offshore & marine applications. Total system studies encompass the operation philosophies, motor starting study, and load flow & voltage drop calculation.
Load flow & voltage calculation computes bus voltages, branch power factors, currents, and power flows throughout the electrical system. The power management system permits for voltage regulated and unregulated power sources with unrestricted power grids and generator connections. This load flow calculation is capable of performing analysis on both loop and radial systems. The system allows you to select from multiple different load flow calculation processes to, in turn, achieve the most accurate and efficient results. The total system includes other important studies, such as short circuit calculation electrical co-ordination & discrimination, relay coordination, and total harmonic distortion.
Engineered over current protective devices are used to help coordinate devices used to clear a fault, without widespread damage to the electrical components of the circuit system. Harmonic distortion is synchronized by regulation standards such as IEEE 519. The standards denote the voltage distortion which is generated in the inductance of the network, generator and transformer. The current distortion is typically produced by chopping electric flow sources such as frequency converters. The IT networks with no grounding require earth outflow direction. This management system will trip if the drives used are not suitable for insulated networks. Modern drives for marine and offshore are especially designed for use in the IT networks as they have a galvanic isolation between the live parts and the frame. This makes the transformers and generators onboard more to tolerate the harmonic distortion caused by frequency converters.
It is important to select the right partner for electrical system integration for Industrial Offshore and Marine Vessel Engine Control that has a proven record of expertise, years of experience and access to a broad range of skills, processes and products.
