Moles are a very common skin problem that with time has become a redundant skin issue. People mostly take them for granted and ignore until they begin to lead discomforts. At Ivy Clinics, we implement latest dermatological technologies to help our patients with their skin problems with minimum discomfort and lasting results.
Moles are generally absent during birth but they have a tendency to develop during the teen years though there is no proven link between puberty and moles. They are caused due to an irregular overgrowth of skin pigmentation cells, melanocytes. These form a slight raised lesion that may or may not be benign throughout its age. This in turn results in a need to remove them if a discomfort is noticed.
Generally moles are dark coloured, flat and regular in shape. These often get confused with freckles that are dark spots usually spotted on fairer skin toned people. However the moles that are relatively lighter in colour ranging from pink to brown are raised and soft.
Here at Ivy Clinic, we utilize two very effective mole removal technologies that result in mole free skin without much pain or recovery discomfort.
The Radio Frequency Surgery implements the usage of high frequency but low wavelength and low temperature wave that remove the moles without burning them away. The procedure involves a superficial penetration of not more than 0.02mm providing less tissue damage and a short skin healing period.
Most commonly radio technology is used to remove the benign moles and promising results where the skin must stay intact without scars.
However not all moles can be removed by radio therapy as the procedure is highly superficial. Therefore in order to ensure complete removal of deeper moles, CO2 fractional therapy is used.
The CO2 fractional surgery involves low frequency but high temperature fractional or periodic light waves that cut and burn the mole tissue from their site. The procedure makes a penetration of not than 0.5 mm and ensures a complete mole removal from its roots. Usually moles that are deeply rooted need a removal procedure that cuts out the mole from below the epidermis.
The fractional laser therapy destroys the dead cells and also triggers cell regeneration. The skin tissue recovers fairly quickly in these procedures and the results are very promising. In cases where the post procedure skin scarring must be minimal, radio frequency and fractional laser therapy are highly recommended.
