So, you’ve managed to get your business started. You know your target audience and have the keywords to optimize. Many people who visit like what they see, but you just aren’t getting enough traffic. In normal businesses, your location makes a great deal of difference. You business in Vancouver, Canada is in a good location physically - a city that hosted the 2010 winter Olympics, your business might actually profit from this reputation. With internet marketing, your online location can also make a major impact on your traffic flow.
Have you ever paid attention to the signs along the road advertising one thing or another? It’s expensive advertising, but often guaranteed to be seen by a very large number of people, some of which may be considering a service close to what you are providing. In a similar way, purchasing ad space on another site can draw in a lot of views. The good part is a lot of ad space providers only charge you for people who actually click on the ad and visit your site which is way more efficient than a billboard.
Before randomly purchasing ad space on sites though, you need to consider that target audience of yours. After all, internet marketing is mainly about strategy. Will your target audience be interested in the site you are putting an ad on? If you are selling metalworking supplies, you don’t want to advertise on an organic foods site. Similarly, you would probably not benefit from placing an ad on another metalworking supply site. For example, if you were just in Vancouver, you would not place your store directly next to a bigger one or the same size.
Keeping with the metalworking supplies example, sites that would be good locations for your ad would be DIY sites and hobby sites for instance. The people viewing those sites would be more likely to have an interest in what you are selling or providing which would usually make your attempt at internet marketing far more successful.
Once you have figured out where to place your ad, you need to know what to put in your ad. Text ads are very cheap, but take up little room and are very often un-noticeable. Banners will likely require both more cost per view and an artist to draw it for you. However, it will give you more space on the page and a more noticeable ad. If you are just starting off, a text ad could be enough.
You don’t have a big amount of room in these ads though, so you want to be concise. Decide what sells more or what your good work is and focus on it. Try to impress in as few words as possible. Your ability to sell yourself will greatly affect how well your ad works for you. Successful internet marketing in this way will go a long way to helping your Vancouver business grow.
