This is probably another statement where we still need a reliable evidence to prove it as a fact. Even though there are small studies which still show that caffeine can cause fertility related problems, but there are no adequate research to prove it. Quite some time back a scientist had proved that males undergoing fertility related treatment had their condition worsened by consuming caffeine but still there is no evidence to show the effects of caffeine in a normal male.
When the discussion comes to fertility linked to caffeine in women, there are many studies to prove it. There is a study by researchers where it was evident that caffeine reduces activity of the muscles in the fallopian tube, which carry a woman’s egg from her ovaries to her womb and the result of such a case is “NO BABIES”.

Many women might still contradict the above statement as they might claim be a regular caffeine in-taker and were still able to conceive but the cases differ in every women. Caffeine actually inhibits the contraction of muscles in the fallopian tube thereby obstructing the delivery of eggs to her womb and which unfortunately leads to a failed pregnancy or a ectopic pregnancy. Caffeine has a quality of affecting everyone in different ways and therefore may affect people’s fertility differently. A lot depends on an individual’s physiology as to how much and how long does caffeine takes to effect you?

A milestone study published revealed that a women who consumed 300mg of caffeine which equals to two 8-ounce cups of coffee had 27% lesser chance of conceiving than the women who avoid caffeine. However a Spanish study had revealed that caffeine did not affect the women’s fertility until she consumed more than 500mg of caffeine. But both these studies suggested that caffeine did had an effect on the fertility of a women. When it comes to caffeine cut in one’s diet, people ought to avoid coffee as they are under the impression that caffeine only comes in coffee but unfortunately caffeine hides in many of the favorites food of an individual such as energy drinks, tea, soft-drinks & chocolates as well.

Even some medicines are ought to contain caffeine but it hardly affects as medicines are not consumed for a longer duration. Though the ill effects of caffeine are more often seen with females, this does not call for a ban on coffee and other products. Many reproductive specialists suggested against the cut if caffeine completely till the time you don’t overdo it. If you are one among the readers who cannot cut in caffeine than probably you can add more milk to your coffee than regular as it will result in less caffeine and more calcium.

Even after so much advanced technology and scientist around, scientist are still not able to state the exact mechanism by which caffeine affect the human body. But we are confident that future science and advanced technology will certainly throw some realistic facts on the mechanism of caffeine.

As time and again we believe in the statement “Better safe than Sorry”, so all the couples who are in their reproductive stage should take certain precautions and reduce the intake of caffeine as far as possible.
