The fashion world has been experimenting with Indian attires for quite some time. Amongst all the outfits, salwar kameez has created a special niche for itself. Salwar Kameez has emerged as the favourite attire of the women in India. This is a major reason why designers often modify it to get completely new styles in the salwar kameez range. Their experimentation has led to a number of styles being available in the market today like Anarkali salwar kameez, churidar kameez etc. Different materials are used to complement these styles leading to an enviable range of fashionable ladies suits, amongst which cotton salwar kameez forms a very popular choice.
Over the years, the basic style of salwar kameez has gone through a number of changes. What we have today is a range of different styles of salwar kameez. These styles have made it easy to choose salwar kameez as the preferred attire for both formal occasions and casual use. Some of the famous styles of salwar kameez are as follow –
Patiala Salwar Kameez -
This is a very popular style of salwar kameez. The cuts used in this design are absolutely different from the traditional style. The salwar is a little baggier than the traditional salwar. It has many pleats and is narrow at the ankles. The ankles of salwar are usually embroidered. The kameez is well fitted and is mostly knee length or a little higher. The salwar kameez is embellished with embroidery and sequins work. Also the dupatta is patterned as per the suit. Patiala style cotton salwar kameez are very popular amongst women as they are perfect for casual and formal occasions.
Anarkali Salwar Kameez –
This is a very famous style of salwar kameez and is largely worn for formal occasions. The salwar is basically a churidar with many pleats around the ankles. The kameez is an A-line kurta that extends below the knees. The sleeves of the kameez are usually full length, sometimes they are styled with pleats around the wrist. Anarkali style cotton salwar kameez with heavy embroidery and sequins work make an excellent wear for occasions like marriage, receptions and festivals. This style is also available in other materials like crepe, silk, georgette etc.
Churidar Kameez –
This is a modern form of the salwar kameez. The salwar here is replaced with the churidar, which is the desi version of the skinny jeans. The kameez can be styled as desired. You can play with the length, neck line and sleeves of the kameez to have a style of your own. Embroidery, sequins work, zari work, lace etc are a few ways in which the look of the outfit can be enhanced. The dupatta can either be plain or be patterned according to the dress.
