It is really pleasant to know that you care for addiction treatment. But you seem to have confusion regarding the process of your dependence therapy. There are certain reliable procedures and medications about the cure. You can be cured using methadone and on the other hand, there is option for you to go for Buprenorphine treatment. Now the question is which is more effective in fixation analysis and cure between methadone and Buprenorphine. Well, it needs to be told in course of a careful discussion.
First we consider methadone treatment. Methadone is a member of opioid family; it is a synthetic opioid. It was introduced in Germany in 1937 as an anti-addictive treatment of patients on opioids. It was used as pain reliever and has been widely practiced all over the world for the treatment of opiate dependence. Though it belongs to the same family of opioids, for its unique characteristics such as cross-tolerance, it is effective in mitigating the addiction problem. It comes in the pet names of Symoron, Dolophine, Amidone, Methadose, Heptadon, etc. it is well for reducing the pain during withdrawal period. Yet, you should pay attention on its process of intake. Take, if you exercise methadone improperly, it can even risk your life giving rise to many strenuous side effects. Like other narcotic medicines, it can also cause shallow breathing, hallucination or confusion, or variable heartbeat, dizziness, etc. it is a sublingual medicine; that is, it should be taken under the tongue. Taking it with alcohol can demand life. It is only to be used under the medical supervision of a licensed practitioner. It is never meant for giving to another person. Treatment can take a long time.
Buprenorphine, on the other hand, is also a derivative of opioid family. It can be used for complete addiction treatment. Being a opioid based partial agonist-antagonist, it works by binding the receptors in the brain. It replaces the opiates at the brain receptors and having originated from opioid family, it also provides almost the same feelings. But the feeling is not so high as heroin, or cocaine. It comes under the pet name of suboxone and subutex. Suboxone contains a mixture of Buprenorphine and naloxone. While Buprenorphine eliminates the patient’s craving for drugs, naloxone gives a balmy relief from the withdrawal syndrome, thus providing the twin effects. It is also a sublingual medicine which is to be exercised under the tongue and if injected, you could suffer from the instant irritating sensation of withdrawal symptom. Standard drug monographs reveal the side effects of using Buprenorphine which can be constipation, headaches, insomnia, drowsiness, etc. But these are trivial effects on human body. During side effects, effective medications to treat those symptoms ought to be provided.
Some medical observations and surveys have dictated that Buprenorphine treatment is more complete and useful than methadone. Methadone has a slower response time and more addictive quality and if it is taken in an overdose, it can result severe reactions and in case, cause death. On the other hand, Buprenorphine has a ceiling effect; that is, it limits its effects up to a certain level. So, it is safer and it has comparatively quick response time.
