Damp; that slight wetness or moist air saturating in your home could be the reason why you always have a cold even in warm weather. Here are some places where dampness thrives and ways to get rid of it.

Shower
Proper care are should be taken especially for wooden and concrete walls and floors. If water is left to stand on these surfaces for too long it may cause dampness and eventual rotting and decay.
Counter measure: After taking a bath, wipe and dry water and splashes and ensure there is enough ventilation to dry the excess moisture. Repair leaking showers and use a damp proofing sheet to prevent water seepage. Most importantly, always keep the bathroom door shut to block moisture from spreading to other rooms.

Damp Clothes
Take precautions when handling clothes that are not completely dry. Moist and wet clothes contain moisture that when trapped next to the human skin can cause an infection or allergy. Sleeping in wet clothes might cause that annoying flu or cold. Additionally moisture from outside can trap itself in clothes.
Counter measures: Leave a fan blowing on damp clothes overnight. Furthermore, hang clothes on hangers instead of stacking them in boxes.

Cooking
Although most people go to great lengths to ensure that their kitchen is clean and tidy it is common for dampness to occur in this area since it provides very ideal conditions from the type of foods prepared, to the method of cooking to cleaning. Be careful when handling moist foods like fruits, sugars, sweets, vegetables, cold beverages and most fresh meat.

Counter Measures: Ensure windows are kept open for proper ventilation especially when performing activities like steaming and boiling. Equally, make use of fans to drain excess moisture. Fix leaking sinks and minimize water splashes to avoid damp walls.

Carpets
Take great care when handling carpets since they can hide moisture. Quickly clean any food drops, water and drink spills on carpets. Wet carpets may attract mould growth and if ignored may lead to diseases such as asthma.

Caring for your home should be something to look up to and enjoy. By embracing these tips, not only will you improve your home quality, but you will guard against diseases and allergies caused by the often overlooked dampness. After all, every good thing including your good health is worth fighting for.
