Carat is the weight of diamond in carats. Higher the carat weight, greater the price. As the carat weight increases, prices rise phenomenally.

You would have read about the Four C’s of diamonds and how they interact with each other to affect the value of a diamond. All the same, take a brief look at the four C’s again.

Four C’s of diamonds are Cut, Clarity, Carat and Color.

Cut refers to the skilled craftsmanship in cutting a rough diamond. In a diamond, the refraction of light produces brilliance. This is enhanced by cutting the facets in a diamond in a well proportioned manner. A good cut is priced high.

Clarity refers to the flaws in a diamond. Most diamonds have flaws, and are called unique fingerprints of a diamond. These flaws may not be visible to the naked eye. Clarity of a diamond is described by the presence or density of inclusions. Higher clarity means higher value.

Color in a diamond isn’t really there as we understand color. Whenever color is mentioned in a white diamond, there are color grades that describe its closeness to stark whiteness. Colorless is most expensive, and tints of yellow in a diamond lower its value.

Carat is the weight of diamond in carats. Higher the carat weight, greater the price. As the carat weight increases, prices rise phenomenally.

Finding the right diamond ring for yourself or your loved one can be challenging and fun. Diamond rings are classified in a number of ways: by ring types, setting types, and ring styles.

Solitaire diamond rings are set with a solitaire diamond as a centerpiece, usually large. These are denoted according to the shape of the diamond set in the ring or the shank type used. For example; round, oval, marquise, cushion or curved shank, split shank, or crossover etc.

Eternity rings are rings with diamonds, of the same cut and size, set in one row all around the shank. The diamonds used are usually round or square, and the setting is either claws or a channel.

Diamond Bands are the simplest rings. A band consists of a strip of metal made into a circle joining the ends together.

Three stone diamond rings are set with three diamonds; a larger one as the centerpiece and two smaller ones by its either side. The centre diamond is said to denote the present, while the side ones stand for past and future respectively.

Five stone diamond rings are set with five diamonds in a row, in a kind of linear progression.

Ring Settings refers to the settings that are used for the diamonds. The vast setting styles encompass a whole range. These are prong setting, bezel setting, channel setting, pave setting, invisible setting and bar setting. Since these have evolved over a period of time, all of them are secure settings. You need to know more about them if you are planning to build your own.

Check for ring size before you begin looking. Measure fingers for ring size at end of the day, when they are at their largest diameters.

Finally, choose a diamond ring based upon the personality and choice of the woman who will be wearing it. It is her ring and she is the one who’s gotta love wearing it.
