The need to have a switch which is tailor-made for a particular system or environment has compelled different manufacturers to invest the requisite resources to ensure that they can design custom switches for their clients.
In such cases the client/s participates in the entire process of designing the switch, which is very important because different entities have different needs when it comes to the use of switches. Keypad switches contain several switches which are all incorporated into one system and they all provide different kinds of responses depending on the individual key that has been pressed.
During the process of designing custom switches the manufacturers may either design the switches from scratch or they can add a few modifications to already existing switches depending on the intended applications. After making a switch it is very important that both testing and quality control are done to guarantee that the switch will function in the right way. Some electronics systems require extreme precision and hence the necessity for customizing switches. Keypad switches make it quite easy to input data and instructions and this is due to the ability of an individual keypad to complete different electrical circuits.

They are commonly found on appliances such as photocopiers or microwave ovens as well as a plethora of other highly advanced electronics, and in such appliances only one simple switch enables the control of a number of functions. Some sensitive custom switches are used in areas requiring utmost function and dependability such as in the manufacture of military equipment and even sensitive life-supporting medical equipment. Generally, the cost of switches is determined by their complexity, the materials used to make them, and their intended applications.
