One can do the self-replacement of the countertop and the associated cabinets if he/she doesn’t want to invest much in it.
Even with little knowledge of the carpentry work, one can do countertop installation and the refurbishing. The important thing is to get the measurements right. Get a new countertop, stop water supply, and remove the taps and finally remove the old countertop. Fit in the new one but make sure that it perfectly fits in the place. Dig in but not deep to prevent any severe damage. Check the level of the countertop.
During this type of installation one may damage the underlying cabinets but they can be set right afterwards. Refacing needs to done by filling up the gaps using substances like “putty”. Reinstall the prior removed taps and check it for any leakage. The easy way to reface the cabinets, after filling the gaps, is the painting.
However the best way is always the professional installation. There is no doubt that you should make the choice yourself but installation that is done by the experts is worth the money. This installation is more systematic, well planned and is more durable.
