Social networking is one of the most popular ways to communicate with long distance friends and families.
The real time data of social network sites allow people to remain active and current in each other’s lives. There are many different social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Digg, My Space, Reddit, StumbleUpon, Delicious, and many others. These social networking sites are also helpful for finding information about particular topics. These topics may include technology, computer services, medical practices or conditions, software, and many others.
In order to access information from these social networking sites individuals must become members. They also must log into the social site to obtain the information. This may seem convenient, but if a person must log into several different sites to retrieve the information one is searching for it may be cumbersome.
Several new social sites are being developed that offer the service of content aggregation. Content aggregation is where an individual or company will collect all kinds of information from other social networking sites. Once the data is collected, all the texts, twitters, status updates, and other posted messages are all delivered into one account. This service can obtain information from other sites besides social networking sites which provides a wealth of information for clients.
Individuals can sign up for the content aggregation service and specify topics and people. In other words a person can select particular topics and all possible information regarding that topic will be delivered to a person’s individual account. Not only topics can be chosen, but information on particular people can also be requested.
Content aggregation has several benefits. The first benefit is the efficiency. In order to maintain contact with family and friends it is only necessary to log into one account. This is much more efficient in finding out how people are doing and what is going in their lives. It also saves a lot of time which can be spent on responding to posts or messages. When the aggregated information is from particular content topics, this information can be used to complete any personal or work projects one is working on. Having all the information delivered to one’s account saves a great deal of research time.
The second benefit of content aggregation is that it limits the number of potential chatting opportunities which may arise. Logging into a social network site sometimes results in many individuals instant messaging. This can interfere with the task at hand of finding information.
Content aggregation compiles different information about people or topics and streamlines the process of accessing this information.
