Mobile learning is rapidly expanding. Looking at the fast advancing mobile technology different application and system are developed continuously. Though the technology has made it possible for us to learn on the move but there is a problem while developing the Mobile learning content. Now the question asked is can my mobile learning course run the same on every phone?

To have richly interactive content for any phone, does one need a blackberry, iPhone, or Nokia and will all the students get the same access to learning. In fact we would like to have equality between mobile users but painfully the truth is that this is an impossible dream. The reality about making mobile learning content is that there is no single solution to push richly interactive Mobile learning content onto every possible phone. To have richly interactive Mobile learning content is possible on single platform, while in reality there are various platforms. On the other hand if we try to make the Mobile learning content accessible for the widest possible phone coverage then there is comprise on the interactivities.

Mobile learning content developers are trying various approaches to cover as wide a range on this spectrum as possible, but it is technically impossible to cover it all.

So if you are thinking of making your Mobile learning content, the best thing to do is be practical about the spectrum of solutions. Instead of starting with the big dream like “for every single device” it would be best to narrow down the technologies that you are looking at, and then work backward to see which type of authoring tool or technical approach will work best. When you are narrowing down your approach ‘smart phones’ could be an option here you are reaching out to phones with decent browsers. Another option you could look at, if there is no data issue then phones with browsers latest being ‘smart phones’ and high end ‘feature phones’ all have a pretty good web browser, which is a lot more standardized than their operating systems.

Last but not the least the current research is looking at hybrid between our Mylearning app and browser based Mobile learning content. The app runs both on and off line and uses browsers to play back courses whenever possible.
