The Korean tech giant Samsung and the search giant Google have officially announced their new flagship Android smartphone last October. This is the Galaxy Nexus. However, you may be thinking what this smartphone is all about. To know more about this powerful handset, let's compare it one of Android's bests the S2.
These days, people look for handsets that come with larger touch screens. This is exactly what Samsung's current flagship has to offer. It comes with a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus capacitive display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. This has a picture density of 217 ppi. The Korean phone manufacturer's new phone comes with a much larger screen. It comes with a 4.65 Super AMOLED capacitive display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. This has a picture density of 316 ppi.
When it comes to cameras, the Korean tech giant's current flagship comes with an 8 megapixel camera that can record high-definition videos in 1080p. The new handset comes with a 5 megapixel camera. You might be disappointed with this camera offering less megapixel counts. However, it is capable of recording videos at 1080p as well when similar cameras can only record videos in 720p.
When processing power comes to mind, both smartphones come packed with similar processors under the hood. The S2 sports a 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 dual-core processor Exynos chipset. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus sports a 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 dual-core processor TI OMAP 4460 chipset. This simply means that you will get to enjoy more from unsurpassed performance. Multi-tasking and mobile gaming will be a breeze.
Samsung's most desired smartphone is pre-installed with the Android operating system version 2.3 (Gingerbread). In the past, this was the latest smartphone-optimized OS on smartphones. It allowed users to enjoy more from web fidelity, performance, apps, and energy efficiency.
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus ships with the latest software Google's Android has to offer. It is pre-installed with the Android operating system version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). This OS brings elements of Gingerbread (smartphone-optimized) and Honeycomb (tablet-optimized) together. It also comes with a number of new features. One of these features is Face Unlock. This allows users to unlock the phone by flashing their faces on the front-facing camera.
When it comes to dimensions the S2 is a mere 8.5 mm slim. The new Android flagship sports a curved design. At its thickest point, it is only 8.9 mm thick. On its thinnest point, it is a mere 7 mm slim. It's hard to imagine how the Korean phone manufacturer managed to pack in of these features in a phone this slim.
As you can see, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is one hell of a smartphone. Don't worry about waiting too long to finally get your hands on the handset. It will be available on the 17th of November.
