Models such as the HTC Desire HD are often overlooked thanks to the media frenzy that brands such as Apple create around their products. Forget all of the hype however and compare the models and you will see that the HTC offers you a phone which does everything that the Apple unit does, but does it a whole lot better.
The HTC Desire HD has firmly established itself as a leading mobile handset especially amongst consumers looking for a large screen to view a wealth of multimedia content. It is arguable however that the iPhone 4 treads a similar path in terms of being the top end release from HTCs main rivals, global super brand Apple. So why exactly should you opt for the larger screened Desire HD over the stylish and feature laden iPhone 4?

With the modern mobile phone often used for much more than the conducting of phone calls, the Desire HD has some features that make it a more versatile device than its rival. Take web browsing for example. At a glance you may think that there is very little difference with both models not only supporting WiFi but also a host of other mobile connections such as 3G and EDGE. The difference however lies in the actual online experience that the user receives. Obviously the larger screen on the Desire HD is a huge advantage when viewing complex web pages but the main advantage is the support of Flash files. Many modern websites embed flash format in order to display images or moving content. As the iPhone 4 does not offer Flash support, thanks in part to Apple refusing to work alongside third party developers such as Adobe, the web experience is somewhat flat with many sites not able to show their full content. The Desire HD on the other hand offers a browsing experience similar to what you would expect to find on a laptop or home computer. The capacitive touchscreen also responds to the slightest touch meaning navigation is a fast and simple affair. Both models do support multi touch so if you do find that text on the page a little to small simply nip your fingers together to zoom in and watch the page automatically adjust to fill the screen in front of your very eyes.

The HTC Desire HD also offers a speedier user experience thanks to the high quality of processor that it employs. This is an area often overlooked with modern handsets with many consumers believing that because both models offer the same speed processor of 1Ghz that they are identical. HTC however have opted to use a renowned chip in the shape of the Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8255 whereas Apple have once again have stuck to a chip they developed themselves in the form of the A4. The result of these differences is that the HTC once again outscores the Apple in terms of performance. The clearest evidence of this is when it comes to mobile gaming, perhaps the activity which places the most strain on the processor. This can often appear slightly jerky when playing a particularly demanding game on the iPhone 4 whilst I experienced no problems on th Desire HD, regardless of which game I was playing.
