The basic design feature of the mouse is a casing with a flat bottom, designed to be gripped by one hand; one or more buttons on the top; a multi-directional detection device on the bottom. By moving the mouse on a surface like a desk, the user typically controls an on-screen cursor. A computer mouse is a relative pointing device because there are no defined limits to its movement and because its placement on a surface does not map directly to a specific screen location. To select items or choose commands on the screen, the user presses one of the mouse's buttons. Computer mouse has two buttons; one on right and another on left side. Earlier computer mouse used track-ball system but now it uses optical sensor technology. There are basically two types of computer mouse, one is with wire and the other is wireless.

The operational range varies depending on the model and they usually operate on 2 AA batteries. Most wireless mouse use radio frequency (RF) technology to communicate information to your computer. Being radio-based, RF device require two main components: a transmitter and a receiver. As with most computer mouse on the market today, wireless mouse use optical sensor technology rather than the earlier track-ball system. Optical technology improves accuracy and lets you use the wireless mouse on almost any surface – an important feature when you are not tied to your computer by a cord. Wireless mouse price is more than the wired mouse. The wireless mouse price is almost the double of the wired one. There are a lot of computer mouse today, which gives us a lot of options to the best for our systems. We can choose a computer mouse that would simply be convenient to us. But choosing the best mouse doesn’t mean that we need to get in the fad. We simply have to choose a mouse that is most comfortable and convenient to use.
