Choosing a bathroom vanity is an important choice when it comes to designing your bathroom. Not only does it have to be functional and practical, you will have it for a very long time, so choose something you love. Make sure you take your measurements when purchasing your vanity and remember to take into account your budget when choosing as it’s so easy to over spend.
Who is going to use the bathroom? If smaller children or adults or both are going to be using this bathroom then you will need to take this into account. Buy a vanity that is going to be durable and take the hard knocks that children can dish out.
How much room do you have? Double vanities are quite the fashion these days, however only in an area that can accommodate it.
The size of the bathroom is a definite factor in decided what style of vanity unit you choose. Smaller bathrooms may not be able to accommodate a larger style of vanity, so a pedestal may be a better choice for you. Although do take into account that you will need some storage space too, so downsizing to a smaller style of cupboard vanity may also be a good choice for storage.
Choose a style that fits in with the rest of your house. You can choose from modern to traditional or even Victorian. Of course if you have a newer style of house, a Victorian style of bathroom may look out of place and vice versa. Marble, granite or antique will suit a traditional or Victorian style of home, whereas if you have a modern home, then the more sleek styles with finishes in chrome or nickel and large frameless mirrors will look fantastic.
Budget also plays a large part when choosing a vanity. When you are renovating or building a home, it’s understandable that you may want or need to keep to that budget. Often time’s items are chosen according to price and size, and durability is overlooked. Purchasing a vanity that will stand the test of time will save you money in the long run.
Also buy something that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. There is no point buying a large ugly vanity unit just because the size and price was right. There are so many fantastic looking vanities today that if you take the time to look around, you are sure to find one that not only serves your needs, but is also a beautiful looking piece of furniture you will love.
