When it comes to commercial window cleaning, you cannot use old tee-shirts or towels to do the job.
When it comes to commercial window cleaning, you cannot use old tee-shirts or towels to do the job. There are factory developed materials that are normally used for cleaning windows on a commercial scale. Choosing the appropriate material can bewilder you for the first time. So how do you pick a suitable material for cleaning windows on a high scale? There are different types of cleaning material that are sold by dealers. They include:

Microfiber Clothes

Microfiber window cleaning clothes are among the most advanced in the market. They are manufactured with super fine strands intertwined together. This produces a finely structured fabric with strands that are thinner than human hair. These miniscule fibers remove dirt and grime without much effort. They also polish glass with greater efficiency to produce a glossy finish. Microfiber comes in two main forms, terry weave and flat weave. Terry weave is used for cleaning and flat weave for polishing glass surfaces.

Scrim

Scrim is quite different from microfiber in terms of strand sizes. It has thicker strands like those ones in hessian or sack clothe. Scrim is touted for its natural absorbency and ability to hold dirt and grime in its thick fibers. It is highly favored by commercial window cleaners since you do not have to keep on wringing or rinsing when working with it. There are two versions of scrim, one for cleaning and the other for rinsing and polishing.

Chamois Leather

Chamois leather is not a type of clothe per se but a form of leather. It has a fine grain structure which makes it non abrasive. It is also highly absorbent and resilient in nature. Chamois leather also comes in two versions for cleaning and polishing. There is also synthetic chamois leather that is made from viscose rayon. It is much cheaper than natural chamois but has similar working properties. Despite this, synthetic chamois is not as durable as its natural counterpart.

Commercial window cleaning companies have to choose suitable materials for doing their job. The material must be efficient and durable for cleaning windows at a large scale. The above cleaning materials are marketed by diverse companies under different brand names. When selecting among the different products, cost and preference are usually the main factors to consider. The material must also be resilient in nature and light enough to work with comfortably at high positions.
