Child Friendly Parks of Brisbane

Brisbane has a multitude of child friendly parks and playgrounds for families with kids of all ages.
Brisbane has a multitude of parks to choose from for kids of all ages. They are all well maintained and encourage imagination and activity shady trees, places to climb and some even incorporate water, sand, sound and other fun stuff.

In Clayfield is Calinga Park. Here is a giant sandpit, Aussie Tree Houses, a rock climbing wall with it's own sounds. Weekends and after school hours are filled with children playing. There is a flat grassy area for the parents to sit and spread out for a picnic. There is also a kid sized bike path, a creek with ducks, and a play area for dogs. Hamilton Recreation Reserve offers climbing nets, sand pits and bike paths as well. The playground is perfect for school aged children and there are open spaces and BBQ's for picnics.

Colmslie Beach Reserve, Murarrie: This is a sprawling park that has a sandpit, plenty of swings, slides and climbing equipment. It is called the Octopus Garden and has an underwater theme. There is a winding childrens bike path and riverside tables and barbeque area. As a bonus, children who love planes will love seeing and hearing low flying aircraft taking off and landing from the airport.Orleigh Park, West End: A giant frog is at the centre of the park, which you cant miss as its so big you can slide down its tongue! There are lovely gardens and bumpy paths for the kids to explore but it is close to the edge of the river so you have to keep your eye on smaller children. There are toilets and you can also reach here by ferry at the West End Stop.

A popular choice for both children and parents is New Farm Park. The giant fig trees are perfect hiding spots for hide and seek, and the wobbly bridges and climbing facilities make it fun for older kids as well. Fot toddlers there is a separate play area. Parking is close but limited on weekends. The Wynnun Waading Pool and playground is a water based park with food vendors and a jetty to walk along.

Scarborough Beach Park has huge cotton trees for climbing and there is a train on the playground as well. Redcliffe offers other parks including Apex park on the foreshore and Rocks riverside Park, Seventeen Miles Rocks. Both are worth a visit and offer play areas to keep all ages happy. Anzac Park, Toowong offers a homestead and Aussie outback theme. This park is home to Brisbanes longest flying fox. It is a popular park for fitness enthusiasts as well as children. Woolcock Park, Red Hill is one that younger children love. This park offers solar powered musical sounds, hammock swings and a really good slide. It is very open and shady.
