The four famous pilgrimages that are covered under it are Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Sri Badrinath. All these sacred places are considered to be the door to spirituality and eternity. Nestled in the lap of majestic Himalayas these four religious sites are located in the Uttarakhand state of India and are the epicenter of religious activities in North India. The Char Dham Yatra is undertaken from west to east so the yatra begins from Yamunotri to Gangotri and then Kedarnath and finally concludes at Badrinath.

Yamunotri:- Dedicated to Goddess Yamuna the sacred shrine of Yamunotri is the source of river Yamuna is the westernmost shrine in the Garhwal Himalayas. The actual source of the frozen lake is Champasar Glacier located on the Kalind Mountain at the elevation of 4,421 m above the sea level. There is a temple dedicated to the Goddess Yamuna is situated on the left bank of river Yamuna was constructed by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal. Later on the temple was built in 19th centaury by the descendants of the Jaipur Royal Family. The temple was destroyed twice by the land slides and was reconstructed again in 20th centaury has an idol of Goddess Yamuna caved in black stone is mainly worshiped by the devotees. The other major attraction of this pilgrimage destination is Surya Kund, Divya Shila, Janki Chatti, Hanuman Chatti etc.

Gangotri:- The picturesque pilgrimage couched in the magnificent hills of Himalayas Gangotri is the next destination of Char Dham Tour. It is situated at an altitude of 3,048 m above the sea level from where the Ganga the stream of life is originated. According to the popular belief Lord Shiva rewarded King Bhagirath after his penance and Ganga came down to the earth. Gangotri is the source of River Ganga and is the seat of Goddess Ganga. A temple dedicated to Goddess was constructed in the early 18th centaury by a Gorkha commander Amar singh Thapa. The origin of the holy river is located at Gaumukh set in the Gangotri glacier and is 19 km difficult trek from Gangotri.

KedarNath:- Next destination of Char Dham tour package is Kedarnath, the seat of Lord Shiva. It is one of the twelve Jotirlingas of Lord Shiva situated at an elevation of 3,584 m above the sea level. Located at the head of river Mandakini the Kedarnath Dham is amongst the holiest pilgrimages of Hindus. According to the Hindu mythology it is the place where Lord Shiva absolved Pandavas from the sin of killing their cousins Kauravas in the battle of Mahabharata. At Kedarnath there are several Kunds that are known for their religious significance and worthy of a visit. Shivkund, Retkund, Hanskund, Udakkund, Rudhirkund etc. are the most prominent one.


Badrinath:- Guarded by the two mountains Nar and Narayan on either side and a magnificent Neelkanth peak at the backdrop the Badrinath Dham is the last destination of Char Dham tour packages. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu it is one of the most sacred pilgrimage centers located in the lofty mountains at the height of 10,248 ft. above the sea level on the banks of river Alaknanda. The major attraction of this temple is a hot water spring “Tapt Kund” where the devotees take the refreshing bath. The temple was constructed by Adi Shankaracharya in 18th century. It opens every year in the months of April – May and closes for winters in the third week of November.
