Traditional burial is quite costly. Moreover, it is not at all cost effective. Traditional burial practices are not an eco friendly option. They are a threat to the environment. So, people should not spend so much on traditional burial. In fact, they should look out for alternatives that do not cause environmental pollution.
Traditional burials are very expensive. The costs include a charge for the plot, for digging up the grave, fees for setting chairs and tents for the graveside services, fees for filling up the grave and various other charges. Another extra cost comes from use of burial vault or grave liner.
The burial vault is nothing but a container made up of metal, hard plastic or concrete. It is the protective enclosure for casket. Their price ranges from 200 dollars to 10,000 dollars. So, it’s quite expensive. A standard burial vault is made up of concrete. It costs around 400 dollars. The prices of burial vaults vary. However, the costs vary depending upon the economic situation and geographic location.
The burial vault surrounds the whole casket. It is regarded to be much stronger than the grave liner. These burial vaults even come up with a warranty period. The burial liner or grave liner on the other hand is the enclosure that covers the sides and top of a casket. The bottom of the casket is not covered by it. The burial liner is much less expensive than burial vault.
The containers which are sealed from all sides do not prevent decomposition of remains. In fact, such containers in most of the cases help to speed up the decomposition of remains. Oxygen is needed to dry up the remains. But these sealed up containers do not allow oxygen to go inside as a result of which the remains after burial decompose quickly. However, there is simply no reason to buy the sealed vault. In fact grave liner is a much better option than burial vault.
Green funeral has become quite popular in the recent history. With eco funeral, you can simply avoid all these huge costs of traditional practices. Green funerals are much less costly in comparison to the traditional ones. The low cost is due to the fact that there are no fees involved in green funerals for renting the funeral home. Green funerals mean no embalming. So there is also no cost for embalming. The transportation is also not costly. Moreover, expensive cemetery property and pricey urns or caskets are not used.
Traditional burials make use of these concrete vaults which are not only costly but also pose a threat to the environment. Moreover, the materials that are used for traditional burial like glues, plastics, caskets, toxic chemicals and petroleum based products add to the cost of traditional burial. Moreover, all these materials have a significant role in polluting the earth. But in green funeral biodegradable containers are used. Green burial is an environmentally sound choice and much less costly than the traditional ones. It doesn’t even release harmful chemicals to earth.
