Located in the North of Spain and very close to Gibraltar, this small town spread over about 7.3 square kms is of great importance for the Spanish Army.

Located in the North of Spain and very close to Gibraltar, this small town spread over about 7.3 square kms is of great importance for the Spanish Army. This strategically located town is also a place of interest for the tourists. The hill Monte Haco has made the town a place of importance from the country’s defense point of view. This hill has a fort which was built centuries ago and according to history, the Greek Army was using this fort to fight against enemies and pirates. Actually this town Ceuta separates Strait of Gibraltar and the Mediterranean Sea.

The Beach:
The part of the sea along the Ceuta occupies an important place for the Spanish Army; again because of its strategic location. At the same time the sea is buzzing with activity as a trade route. This is yet another reason why the Spanish Army has kept vigil on this beach. Impressed by its natural beauty and the overlooking Monte Haco hill many tourists flock to this beach. In spite of it being a busy port and under the watchful eye of the Spanish Military, the beach is considered to be safe for the tourists. Separate area has been earmarked for the tourists so that they are not disturbed by the ships anchored in the port. The beach has many water sports facilities and is considered safe even for children.

Churches:
Interestingly, this small town is the home for some of the historic churches. Some of the most visited churches are Santa Iglesia Catedral, Church Vicaria General Del Obispado De Ceuta, Church Parroquia De Santa Maria De Los Remedios, Church Parroquia Santa Teresa De Jesus De Ceuta and Comunidad Israelita De Ceuta. These churches are popular not only as places of worship but also as storehouses of some of the most popular works of art and artifacts. Some of the churches also have museums which depict the history of Ceuta and the history of the concerned church. These churches have traditional Moorish architecture.

How to reach Ceuta?
Ferry services are available to reach this town. The town also has an airport. It is very well connected by road and rail also. Having reached Ceuta, accommodation and food will not pose any problem. This is because there are plenty of villas, apartments and restaurants which have rentals suitable for all classes of visitors. The restaurants, hotels and bars serve the delicious traditional food of Ceuta at reasonable rates.
